SCHENECTADY—Catherine "Kay" Cassidy, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia.
Kay was born in Cohoes, New York a daughter of the late Michael & Ellen Bradley Navin. She was a graduate of Draper High School and retired from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation after 19 years of faithful service. Kay was a devoted communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church and was a member of its Rosary Society.
Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Edward Cassidy; and her sister, Margaret (Peg) Laquidara.
Survivors include her loving children, Michael (Surinder) Cassidy, Dennis (Karen) Cassidy, Ellen (Robert) Sweatt and Patty (John) Nardini; adoring grandchildren, Lesa Cassidy, Jason Cassidy, Megan Cassidy, Timothy Cassidy, Bobby (Alicia) Sweatt, Jr., Sarah (Derrick) Hackett, Kate (Peter) McCormick, Diana SweAtt and Lauren Nardini; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Loos, Agnes Fuller and Elizabeth "Betty" Shirkey; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Kay's family would like to thank Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia, especially to S2 Nursing, CNA Staff, the volunteers, social workers, therapists, activities and chaplain for the loving and exceptional care shown to their mother during her stay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, Rosa Road Campus. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery, Stillwater will be held in the Spring.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St. (at McClellan St.), Schenectady on Sunday evening from 4 to 6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may made in Kay's memory to the Schenectady City Mission or the Salvation Army.
