Ft. Edward- Irene Bixby Flagg Pomeroy 95, of The Oaks, formerly of Colonie, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 surounded by her family. She was born in Wallingford, VT daughter of the late Ernest and Nellie Pickett Bixby. Irene lived in Colonie for 41 years where she worked at Shop Rite on Wolf Rd in the meat dept. She moved in 2003, to Ft. Edward, to be closer to her son Ken and his family. Irene loved nature and gardening. Her talent as a gardener was on display in her beautiful flower beds. She was a member of Community Reformed Church in Colonie. Irene was predeceased by her husbands, Kenneth J. Flagg and Benair Pomeroy and her sister May Bixby Lawrence, brothers Howard, Milton, Bill, Clarence(Sam) and Ernest Bixby. Survived by her son, Kenneth Flagg (Judy) of Salem, NY, her daughter, Phyllis Attanasio of Middleburgh, NY; 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, May 14th, at 1 PM at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. There will be no calling hours. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Nature Conservancy or the charity of ones choice.
