Obituary of Ruth Eleanor Benac

Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth E. Benac, 88, passed away September 3, 2008. Born and raised in Schenectady, NY, she returned to live at Schaffer Heights after living 20 years in Denver, CO. Most recently, she resided at, and endeared herself to the staff of, Baptist Health & Rehab Center in Scotia, NY. She was predeceased by her first husband and father of their four daughters, Fred H. Pulver, MD, and her late husband, Henri J. Benac. Survivors include her sister, Margaret Tiefenbach of El Cajon, CA, her daughters Winifred (Pulver) Doran of Buffalo, Marilyn (Pulver) Everson of Weedsport, Phyllis Pulver of Rexford, Pamelyn (Pulver) Clements of Saratoga Springs, seven grandsons, three great grandsons and (finally!) a great granddaughter, Emily RUTH. A 1941 graduate of Ellis Hospital School for Nurses, she was a staff nurse in the Ellis Hospital Pediatric Department, a beloved school nurse to the students at the Harvey Boys School in Katonah, NY, and a nurse assistant in Denver, CO. After retiring from nursing in 1983, she employed her skills as a seamstress/tailor. She realized a lifelong dream by self-publishing "The Seasons of My Heart", a compilation of her poems, several of which are published in the National Library of Poetry. Her love of music, particularly singing, lives on through her four daughters. In keeping with her wishes a celebration of her life will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth's memory can be sent to Phyllis Pulver (PO Box 197, Rexford, NY 12148) to establish a music program at Baptist Health & Rehab Center.
