Guilderland- John M. "Jack" Baluch, 70 died unexpectedly Wednesday November 12 at his home.
Born in Schenectady, New York on September 10, 1938, John was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, and the Watervliet Arsenal's apprentice program as a machinist. He retired from the Arsenal in 1998. He served in the National Guard for 6 years in the late 1950's to early 1960's. John has worked as a school bus driver in the Mohonasen Central School District for the past 10 years.
John was a kind soul, and was loved by all who knew him. He was known to anyone who knew him as a quiet but strong presence in their lives. He had a fierce loyalty to family and friends and he loved his family more than anything in the world. His loss will be felt for a long time.
John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his friends and family. He vacationed in Maine and North Carolina and loved the drive as much as the destination on all of his trips.
John is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marie (Pettica) Baluch, his son David, wife Amy and 2 grandchildren, John and Sarah; his brother Bruce and wife Winifred. He is also survived by a niece Wendy and husband Tom and great nephew Matthew; nephew Andrew and wife Amanda, and a great niece, Emily.
A visitation will be held on Monday November 17, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a memorial service at 6 PM at the Jones Funeral Home on Union Street in Schenectady.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osbourne Road Loudonville, New York 12211.
