I was studied with Professor Wood in PGOC class at RPI in 1996. His lectures and textbook (co-authored with BF Wollenberg) inspired me to do research in power system operation and economics. His encouragement and support helped me to successfully pursued PhD at Georgia Tech. I will miss him so much.

Allen was a great inspiration to the members of the IEEE Schenectady Chapter. His book on Power Operation, Generation and control with Bruce Wollenberg is a classic is Modern Power System Economicsa and operations.

I send my condolences to Allen's family. I worked with Al on many committiee's at PTI and always enjoyed his company. He was an outstanding engineer and excellant teacher. The community will certainly miss him.

Allen Wood was my teacher, my mentor and my friend. I studied with him at RPI in 1966 and then went off to work in PA. Later I came to work at PTI with Al and we started a book in 1979 and completed it in 1983. We remained close over the years after I left PTI and and I will miss his guiding hand very much.

We both sincerely enjoyed getting to know Alan and thought of him as family after Donna (Marissa's mom) and John were married. He was joyful, interesting, and a great conversationalist. Our hearts go out to Barbara, John, and Maggie during this sad time.

Naomi and I send our condolences to Allen's family. He was an esteemed associate at GE and was an outstanding engineer . His contributions to electric power engineering are enduring. Besides all this, he was lots of fun to be around. We will not forget him.
