Obituary of George T. Hunter

George Thomas Hunter, passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family at the time of his passing. George was born in Shamokin, PA on May 24, 1945. He was the son of the late George R. and Nancy J. Hunter. He graduated from Albany High School and Hudson Valley Community College. George served in the United States Army from 1965 until 1969 proudly serving his country in the Philippines and Vietnam. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 34 years at the Karner Road facility in Colonie, NY. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Margaret L. (Hauser), his sons Christopher, Michael, Joseph (Cassie); his grandchildren whom he adored Noah and Savannah; and his sisters Cynthia (Harold) Welch and Lynne (Ronald) Griffin. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady. Inurnment with full Military honors will be Wednesday at 10 AM at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to , 8 N. Church St., Schenectady, NY 12305 or Autism Society, 101 State St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
