Schenectady- Robert E. Doak 86, of Schenectady, NY, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, Sept. 7th surrounded by his family. Robert was born July 19, 1928 to the late Gladys and Alexander Doak of Amsterdam, NY. He attended Amsterdam Schools before honorably serving his country in the Korean conflict from 1950-1953. On Christmas Eve 1950, Robert married the love of his life, Katherine Micheli and celebrated their 63rd anniversary this past year. Together they had 3 children-Vicki (Mike) Affinito, Linda (Jim) Duell and the late David Doak. His great pride in life was his family and his grandchildren- Rob (Katie) and Josh Duell, and Cris and Jeremy Affinito. He is also survived by his brother James Doak, his sister Karen (Ernie) Kilinski and his late brother Larry. Robert worked for Micheli Hardware and then as a letter carrier until he retired in 1990. He enjoyed camping, reading, his many trips to Cape Cod and was an avid Yankees fan but more than that - he loved going to his grandson's baseball and basketball games. "Bob" was a kind and gentle man devoted to his family. Funeral services will be at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St.,(at McClellan St.), Schenectady on Thursday, Sept. 11th at 11 AM. Calling hours will be Wednesday Sept 10th from 5 PM to 7 PM. Burial with Military Honors will be at Park View Cemetery.
