Norman Charles Searles, 88, of Niskayuna, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013.
Norman graduated from Draper High School, Schenectady, NY. in 1943. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Pacific Theater for three years.
After the war, he attended Plattsburgh College and graduated from HVCC.
Norman was a retired television broadcast engineer and employed for many years at WGY/WRGB and then the New York State Network.
He was a member of St. Helen's Church (now Saint Kateri Tekakwitha) for more than 50 years.
He is predeceased by an infant son, Peter Norman Searles and a grandson Conar Norman McCown.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Frances Nye Searles, a brother Vincent Searles (Jean), a brother-in-law Richard F. Nye (Marie);
daughters Dr. Cynthia Ricard (John), Virginia McCown (Jack), nieces, Laurie Nye Cornog (Steve), Karen Nye Cloud (Doug), Carolyn Nye, Christine Nye, Kathleen Nye Davis (Allan), and grand-nieces and grand nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contibutions in Norman's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
