I am very sorry to hear about this loss! My name is Jonathan and I live in your neighborhood and I am delivering a comforting message to people. It's a promise from God at John 5:28,29 which promises that we will all see John again very soon. I wish your family the best and hope you cope well.

To Loretta and the Sullivan Family: My sincere regrets to you and the family on John's death. Since I retired from the department, I have had little contact with John. I had no idea that he was so sick. I had the privilege of working for John on the reconstruction of Route 7. This difficult project would not have been done without the knowledge that a man like John possessed. John's dedication and experience not only led to this project's completion but left a lasting effect on all of us

From the first time I met OJ I can honestly say he was one of the most passionate construction persons I have ever come across. John truly loved everyday on the job. I think of him often and will miss him greatly.

Johnny O :I look to the future..for I will spend Eternity there; and now in your good company. On Veterans Day I say out loud the names of "Soldiers" who have gone before me. I know that as long as someone speaks your name, you are not gone. You live as long as you are remembered. Keep the foxhole warm ol' buddy. Korky.

John was the most knowledgeable engineer I ever met in 32 years at DOT, an organization filled with many good engineers. If he respected you. you were in ( it didn't hurt if you were Irish!). Although I never worked directly with him, he was a mentor in every sense. He could be brusque, even argumentative, but he knew his onions. My sympathies and prayers are with the family.

John and I worked together from Survey in the 60s to Construction Projects in the 90s. His enthusiasm and great sense of humor made him a pleasure to be around, both at work and socially. Grace and I wish to extend our sympathy to Loretta and children. John will always be remembered fondly by us all.

We are so lucky to have had John and Loretta as our next-door neighbors! When we moved in 17 years ago, we didn't know just how lucky we were. To have someone as knowledgeable and caring as John to ask questions of meant a lot to us all. If we ever had a question about who to hire for a job around the house, John and Loretta would "know a guy" to recommend. And do so happily.

It was my distinct pleasure to know and work with John (OJ) for nearly 30 years. There was a time we rode to work on the South Mall Interchange each day and I still cherish those rides. John was a very special person who was dedicated to his family and his work. He was respected by all who came to know him, both colleagues and contractors alike. One cannot travel through the Capital District and avoid John's extensive work history. From the South Mall Interchange to Exit 24, to Route 7....everywhere there are examples of his fine effort. This is the passing of a truly wonderful man.

I met John when he came to work at City Hall. He was the most caring, passionate and genuinely happiest person who has ever worked at City Hall. He was truly a good man and worked hard on his project. The City of Schenectady was privileged to have him with us. I will miss him so much and I know he is in Heaven . SvrPr

Seven plus years ago, John and Loretta walked through our doors and brought with them sunshine, laughter and friendship. They quickly became a part of us, of who we are as a family and as a staff. How very blessed we have been! We will hold John in our hearts always! With much love and a toast of “Sam’s” from Cheryl & Jim, Michael & Julia and your family at Cella Bistro
