Obituary of Norman W. Schlansker

Schenectady - Norman W. Schlansker, 72, of Corlaer Avenue, died Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Dutch Manor Nursing Center with his family by his side. Born in Schenectady, son of the late Alfred and Fannie Krage Schlansker. Norman was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and enlisted in the Army from 1959 to 1962. He went to work at General Electric in 1954, graduated from the apprentice program, working in various positions and at the time or his retirement in 1995, he was Numerical Control Specialist in the Large Steam Turbine Dept. Norman was a member of GE Alumni Apprentice Assoc., GE Elfun Society, GE Quarter Century Club and a member of Christ Church Episcopal. Norman loved his dogs, Barney, Casey and Max. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Marjorie Parillo Schlansker; one sister, Ellen Schlansker Martin of Niskayuna; two brothers, Richard (Ellen) Schlansker of Schenectady and Theodore Schlansker of Rotterdam; a special cousin Mary Ellen Brinkman of Cobleskill and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by his brother Alfred Schlansker. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Albany St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 7 PM to 9 PM at the Jones Funeral home, 1503 Union St., ( at McClellan St.), Schenectady. Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Norman's memory to The Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, 53 maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302.
