Jerry and I were on a business trip to Colorado and we hit a very violent bit of turbulence. Jerry was a nervous flyer and when the captain came over the com and said he was negotiating with ground control to climb out othe bad situation Jerry yelled at the top of his voice for all to hear " Give Them Anything They Want!!!. The entire plane started laughing and all the flight attendants came to our seat and shared a lot of laughs with us. I will miss him very much.

I worked with and for Jerry at DOCS for those 20 years, some of which as his secretary. What a great guy. So witty and fun and a good man. He will be missed by those who knew him and loved him. My heart goes out to all his loved ones.

My mom, Margret Appe, worked with Jerry for MANY years at the NYS Department of Corrections. Whenever I had the chance, even if it was faking a sick day, I loved going to work with my mom - mostly because it meant I got to see "Mr. Ducie" - the wonderfully funny man she worked with. He always welcomed me with open arms and made me feel so special for the day! Two years ago, I got sucked into playing Farmville on Facebook and one of my "facebook friends" and "neighbors" was a woman named Marie Ducie Marton - on a hunch, after several months, I asked if she was related to the "Mr. Ducie" I remembered - Well. low and behold, through the magic of the internet, I found a "connection". Marie graduated from the same high school as my children, she went to college with my best friend, and she was Jerry's daughter! Marie and I still enjoy playing Words with Friends on the Internet and I hope, someday, that we will meet in person. I'm also so happy that my 87 year old mom has also reconnected with Marie through Facebook! Love you Mr. Ducie!

Dear Aunt Pauline, Chris, Marie and families, May perpetual light shine upon dear Uncle Jerry as he now enters into the next and certainly more illuminated phase of his life in Christ. We are so grieved to learn of his passing. Your world, our world and, indeed, the whole world will never be the same without his loving and jovial presence. He leaves a long shadow from a noble life dedicated to his family and his extended family that will not likely be forgotten. Please know that you are in our constant thoughts and prayers. Jim says to Uncle Jerry, "from one Irishman to another: May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. May the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand."
