Obituary of Loretta M. Brown

Please share a memory of Loretta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Former long time Schenectady, NY resident, Loretta M. Brown, died suddenly at Florida Hospital Flagler, on May 17, 2012. Loretta became a full time resident of Ormond Beach Florida, in 2008, to be close to her son, Tom Brown and wife Sandy, and beloved granddaughter, Diane McVinney. She had lived in her home on Rugby Road, Schenectady, for over 69 years. Loretta graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, where she excelled as Captain of the girls basketball team, and participated in the track team where she held several awards. She was a homemaker, and together with her husband, Russ, raised her 2 sons. Once the boys were in middle school, she began a career as a secretary at General Electric. She was an avid bowler with the GE Women's League, winning several trophies. A longtime member of St. Clare's Hospital Auxiliary, the Altar/Rosary Society of St. John the Evangelist Church, and a member of the Mothers of Priests Association. Loretta was blessed with 97 years of wonderful health in mind, body and spirit. She had a beautiful smile that was contagious, a wonderful wit, and sense of humor. All who know her marveled at her astute mind, her caring, love, and concern, for others. Loretta took pride in her family. She was truly a woman of faith and love. Her passing marks the end of an era, but her legacy begins a new chapter in all our lives. Loretta touched a whole tiny world of human beings, and all were enriched and have grown. We as a Family, along with her many neighbors, friends and acquaintances, will miss her dearly. Predeceased by her parents, William and Isabella Fink, 5 siblings, her husband Russell V. Brown Sr.(died May 23, 1979), son Russell (Mickey) V. Brown Jr.(died July 30, 2001) and his wife, Norma Cichy Brown (died October 10, 2004), and grandson, Michael Thomas Brown (died April 23, 2008).
