Obituary of Melvin E. Wiley

Melvin E. Wiley, of Niskayuna passed away suddenly on November 4, 2010 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 27, 1927 in Mechanicville to the late Ernest and Vliety Wiley. Melvin was the husband of Mary Elizabeth Wiley who passed away in 2008. Survivors include his Daughter Dawn Marie and husband Richard Okonski of Niskayuna, and two Grandchildren, Aimee & Ryan, and two step-sons, Ronald and Donald In addition to his parents and wife Mary Elizabeth, Melvin was predeceased by his son Melvin Lee Wiley, sister Mildred Moore and her husband Maurice Moore. Melvin worked for 30 years in the x-ray department at Ellis Hospital. He enjoyed music, dancing, current events and being with family. He played several musical instruments, wrote music and cut 2 records. Family and friends will miss his quick wit and humor, as well as his desire to be the best at everything he put his mind to. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street (at the corner of McClellan) Schenectady, NY 12309. An hour of calling will be held prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Memory's Garden Cemetery.
