Obituary of Marion G. Dearstyne

Marion Glock Dearstyne died peacefully January 19, 2013 surrounded by her family at Ellis Hospital. Marion was born in Schenectady to the late Frederick H. and Mabel H. Glock. Marion was married to the late Edmund M. Dearstyne who died in 1976. Marion is survived by one son Edmund G. Dearstyne and his wife Jaroslava Dearstyne, one granddaughter Jarka M. D. Goudsouzian, one great-grandson Henry D. Goudsouzian, and several nieces and nephews. Marion was a graduate of Knox College, and a former model for Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan. She then returned to Schenectady where she married, and in later years was employed by the Schenectady School District before retiring in the 1970s. Marion was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in numerous church functions. She was a member of The Rexford Women's Club and Rexford Historical Society, and at one time also served on the board of The Ellis Hospital School of Nursing. Calling hours will be held at the Jones Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7pm. Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be conducted at Zion Lutheran Church on Thursday at 11:30am with the Reverend George Carstensen officiating. Interment will be private.
