Obituary of Norma Waldron Flora

Norma Waldron Flora of Schenectady, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, November 16, 2017 at 98 years young.
Norma was born on October 19, 1919 in Watertown, New York, the daughter of the late Harlow and Dorothy (Porter) Williams. As a graduate of Rome Free Academy and Buffalo State Teachers College, Norma taught as an elementary school teacher in the Bethlehem School District for two years before becoming a devoted wife and mother.
Norma married the love of her life, the late John "Jack" Waldron in 1942 and they lived in Syracuse, Schenectady, Burlington, VT, Binghamton, NY, Winchester, MA and Pittsfield, MA before returning in 1966 to settle in Niskayuna.
Norma served on the Cancer, Heart, and United Way committees and on the board of Schenectady Day Nursery. She was a member of Schenectady Arrangers, Queens Fort and Mohawk Golf Club. Norma was an avid reader, followed politics, and enjoyed traveling with friends. "Nena" spent her favorite times taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Norma remarried in 1990 to the late Joseph A. Flora, a wonderful man with a loving family. They were married for 5 years.
Norma was predeceased by her son John Waldron III (1957), her husband Jack Waldron (1975), her daughter Nancy Waldron Williams (1990), her brother Harlow Williams, her second husband Joe Flora (1990) and her son-in-law Robin Williams (2014).
Norma is survived and will be forever cherished by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha (Muffy) and Wade (Doug) Lupe, who were blessed to have her with them for the past four years, her grandchildren- Sarah Williams Silver, John (Carolyn) Williams, Friedl Williams, Robert (Joleen) Lupe, Liza (Kevin) Rucinski and her great grandchildren - Jacob and Ashton Silver, Lola Nyberg. Baylyn, Linden and Wren Williams, Sage and Sky Williams Jacobs. Adelina, Joanie, Jacklyn and Robbie Lupe, Gavin and Benjamin Rucinski.
Her five step children - Joseph Flora, Nancy Flora Fersh, Ellen Flora Stanton, Marcie Flora Drake, and Kathy Flora Treat and 12 step grandchildren and 19 step great grand children

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, November 27 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28 at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
