Obituary of Randall E. Hagar

Randall Edward Hagar 92, of Niskayuna, passed away on Saturday November 4, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side.
Born on April 9, 1926 to Harry and Mildred Edwards Hagar in Damarescotta Mills, Maine. After graduation from Lincoln Academy in New Castle, ME at age 17. He joined the Maine State Guard Reserve and that same year he joined the United States Navy in Portland, ME on October 5, 1943. Serving on a Naval fleet tanker, Aucilla, under Halsey, he was involved in the numerous engagements in the Pacific fleet. He earned the WW II Victory medal, American Theatre medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre medal and the Philippine Liberation Theatre medal. After the war he served on fleet tankers for Esso and left for employment at G.E. as steam fitter. He later entered the Schenectady Police force in 1958 as a patrolman, later becoming a vice detective until his retirement in 1981. After his retirement, net continued to support the family business, Bell Hagar Antiques and Bell Hagar Fashions.
Randall was a member of the Elk's and American Legion Post 1092.
Randall is survived by his wife Isabel A. Hagar, daughter Donna Lee (Frank) Mogavero, grandson Scott (Courtney); great grandchildren, Ashley, Ethan and Ava; sisters Isabel Kelsey and Lucy Russell both of Maine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday Nov. 14th from 10:45 am to 11:45 am at the Jones Funeral home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), for those who wish to call. Military honors and prayers will follow at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville, NY at 1PM.
