Niskayuna- Joyce M. Alessandrini 82, of Niskayuna, died Saturday February 26, 2011 at home with her loving sister by her side.
Joyce was born in Schenectady, daughter of the late John and Emma Bartoli Alessandrini. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and Barnard College(Columbia University), with a degree in International Relations. Upon graduating in 1950, she was recruited by the C I A, for the Department of Intelligence working with the Department of the Deputy Director of Intelligence. Her later years were involved with producing the presidents daily briefing. Joyce loved her work and was very dedicated to it. She was a true American patriot. She was considered a "Culture Vulture" as her interests were the Arts, Music, Literature and History. Upon her retirement in 1985, she became involved in the local arts and politics, becoming a Democrat. In addition to her work, Joyce loved to travel, especially to France.
Survived by her loving sister, Eileen I. Alessandrini. Together they were considered "Double Trouble". In addition she is survived by distant relatives and many good friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Rd., Schenectady. A calling hour will be held Wednesday morning from 9 AM to 10 AM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.) for those who wish to call.
Burial will be private for family.
