Dear Karen & Family, I am so saddened at your loss of Dick. I first met him in the late 80's/early 90's when he was a Project Mgr for GE and I was the new Receivables Mgr for the Americas. Dick helped me resolve issues with his customers to ensure collections. He shared many stories. both about GE and personal and shared wisdoms. He was the first to enlighten me that my surname of Oathout was Dutch and not German as I had been told as a child. He always made me laugh. Karen, I first met you through Steve, and was at yaour house when Ryan was a baby. My sympathies to you all. I thought Dick was a great guy. Best Regards, Doreen

First met Richard at the Sunnyview Fitness Center several years ago. He loved words and was good with them so we would often go back and forth discussing politics, religion, science, music, etc. One time I happened to mention that I regretted not being more musically talented. So the next time I saw Richard he had brought with him a harmonica and offered to teach me how to play it. Right there at Sunnyview if need be. He loved music and had a fine singing voice. If there is such a thing as a heavenly quartet, I’m sure Richard is in it.

I was saddened to hear of the loss of Richard this week. I hold very happy memories of him sitting on the porch at MYC, singing, back in my teenaged years. He is truly a treasure and is missed.
