I had my yearly appointment today at NYOH and I looked forward to seeing Betty as she drew my blood. She did that for 15 years. I was saddened to hear of her passing in January. She was a special person who made everybody feel better just seeing and talking to her. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

I have been a patient at Riverview for over 20 years. Seeing Betty there has always been a highlight of my visits. She was so uplifting and supportive and kind. Every once in a while I had dinner with family at the Turf Tavern and saw Betty there too. I was shocked to hear of her passing. I will miss seeing her. I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family and friends.

We have been customers of the Turf Tavern for many years, through several owners, and many wait staff. Betty was our favorite for the whole time of her employment there. We always made sure to ask for one of her tables. She added another element of joy to each and every visit. She was always ready with a smile and ready to trade a joke with my husband. Before he even looked a the menu or ordered a drink, he would be looking for Betty. We will miss her greatly. Our condolences to her family and friends.

To the Burgess family, My heart goes out to you all with the loss of Betty. She and I started working together at the Marriott in Albany when It opened in the mid-80’s. We proceeded to date for about a year and half until I got transferred to Miami. Arguably some the best times of my life. I continued to think of her as the years went on, reflecting on the time we had together. She positively impacted my life with fun and love!!! On a side note, she continued to take care of my dad (Joe Sr.)at the Dr.’s office right up until a few weeks ago. He called and gave me the news. God bless you all in this time of loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Joe Fall II

We have lost a beautiful Spirit. I first reconnected with Betty many years ago when we moved to Glenville and went to the Turf with my parents (they were regulars). They knew Betty well (she was so wonderful to them) but didn't realize that Betty and I knew each other back in NHS days. Back then, Betty and I became quick allies while working at the Epicure Deli at Mohawk Mall. Betty was one of the funniest, most giving, hard working people ever. A brilliant smile, contagious laugh and wit. We did have a few ridiculous crack up sessions at the Turf over the years reminiscing about the Epicure days. We will miss you, Betty, but know that your bright Spirit shines on and we will see you again.

Dear Burgess Family I wanted you all to know how very sorry I am that feeling. Betty and I were friends as teenagers always sharing laughs in the company of common friends. As a young woman she had the gift of kindness which carried with her until her final day. My grandparents lived near her after return to the area and we would see each other in passing which was always a pleasant occasion. Things happen without explination...about 5 years ago our paths crossed by chance for the final time. From that day on our paths crossed on a more and more regular basis not by chance but by choice. I feel so very fortunate to have even known Betty much less earned her love. We got along so well always treating each other with admiration and respect often with a good dose of humor. My children cared for her very much...the feeling mutual. They along with many friends always commented that we complimented each other...like peas and carrots. During her last days I had the oppertunity to meet and talk with several of her closest friends. They all said the same thing to me : she loved me and I made her very happy. I hope that you find some comfort in my words here knowing that her last 5 years were filled with love and happiness. Please call on me as someone who will always care.
