Scotia- James E. Powers 95, formerly of Troy Place, Niskayuna, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Baptist Health Nursing Center after a long illness. Jim was born in Plattsburgh, NY, son of James and Agnes Lashua Powers. He was a member of the National Guard and was a Railroad Police Officer with the New York Central Railroad. After retirement from the railroad he worked almost 20 years with Burns Security. Jim was a Union Representative for the railroad for many years. Predeceased by his wife of 60years , Leona Bernice Milauskas Powers in 2002. Survived by his loving daughter, Mary Rose Foster and her husband David of Ballston Spa; granddaughter, Elizabeth Sikoryak and her husband Bart; grandson David Foster and 3 great grandchildren, Benjamin, Isabelle and Timothy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, at 9 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Road, Schenectady. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Jim's memory to St Clement's Outreach Program, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
