Susanne Stratton posted a condolence

My name is Susanne Stratton and I am from Niskayuna, NY. Carole came into my life in 1992. She was the most amazing woman I have ever met and to this day I have treasured the times I have spent with her. As I think back on the 22 years I have known Carole, she was an inspiration to me - a guiding light, a rock of a woman. Her friendship taught me HOW to become a strong & confident woman. We met under stressful circumstances for me and the Lord brought us together for a reason. I was trying to get out of a domestic violence relationship along with a brutal UCJA custody battle for my little 4 year old girl. Words cannot express how close I became with Carole. I TRUSTED Carole and learned to TRUST again with Carole's help. A gift that no one can ever take away. Since 1992 we remained friends. My daughter completed many of her courses to help strengthen her skills as well. Carole and I never lost contact and always made sure to get together or email each other. I recently moved to Florida at the end of the 2013 summer. We continued to write and keep in touch. When my emails to her started to get sent back to me as "undeliverable" and my letters were stamped "return to sender" I had to search until I found some answers. I JUST discovered this tonight. I cannot tell you how saddened I am about Carole's passing and my thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. My daughter is now 26 years old and with the help of Carole she has become a beautiful, strong, confident young woman. Carole was just THE BEST!! In closing, I am now adoring the beautiful framed orange flower painting she gave me last year. Her painting is displayed in my living room. Carole - you will be DEARLY missed - you ARE loved and I can't wait to see you again in Heaven to have yet another "heart to heart". You will ALWAYS live on in the people you have touched, the women you have inspired and encouraged. You were "One of a Kind" and will always be my "Hero". I love and miss you!!

Carole helped me through some very rough times in my court custody case. She attended every hearing and supported me the entire time. She offered me her expertise in domestic violence counseling at no charge and became a good friend in the process. I will miss her smile and her positive outlook on life- the world has lost a wonderful woman

Carole was my friend, colleague and fellow advocate. She inspired me and I look up to her as one of the powerful women who have led me to want to be a Stand UP Guy. Her lifework of ending violence against women is now my own as one of the many men who are against violence against women. Carole continues to be a star to guide our way to a brighter and safer future, where we can live without fear and fulfill our destiny as women and men , girls and boys.
