Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Niskayuna - Elizabeth A. Wilson, 91, of Niskayuna, passed peacefully from the arms of her daughter, Lisa, into the arms of our Lord on May 31, 2017 at Capital Living Rehabilitation and Long Term Care. Born August 16, 1925 in West Meath, Ireland, to the late Mary and Ambrose McCauley. Elizabeth received her formal education in Ireland. She achieved a lifelong dream in emigrating to the USA via Ellis Island, finally settling in Rochester, NY. Mom made lifelong friends in Rochester. On October 16, 1954 Elizabeth married her husband of 58 years, Anthony J. Wilson, who passed away in 2013. Together they raised three children in Niskayuna, NY. Elizabeth was employed by the Schenectady County Library (Main Branch) in Technical services as a data processing clerk. Mom enjoyed 39 years of service, retiring in 2011. Her co-workers were lifelong friends and often referred to them as second family. They supported each other in good times and bad. Many joined us last August for a surprise birthday party, she so enjoyed everyone's company. Elizabeth has been an active communicant of St. Helen's/St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish since 1957, belonging to the choir, Rosary Society and the Hospitality Committee. Mom supported her childrens' activities at both St. Helen's and Notre Dame - Bishop Gibbons High School. Mom was a caring, loving and supportive Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She loved baking, quilting, sewing, travel, and most of all, SHOPPING. She treasured time spent with family, especially holiday and birthday dinners. Elizabeth loved spending time with her granddaughters - school shopping, lunch dates and making ginger bread cookies. You could often find the three of them in the "Grandma Chair" just talking. Mom loved the peace and power of the ocean, walking the beaches in Cape Cod, MA, Ogunquit, ME and Amelia Island, FL. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents; siblings; and husband. She is survived by her children, Judy W. Payne (Sam) of Denver, PA, Lisa A. Wilson, R.N. of Glenville, NY and Joseph X. Wilson (Cathy) of Guilderland. Her granddaughters, Torre R. and Morgan E. Wilson of Guilderland, Donna and Mike Wilson of Schenectady; and several nieces and nephews. Elizabeth and Lisa praise the care and compassion she received at Capital Living from all departments. Everyone was affected by her death. She made many wonderful friends, especially, Dolores Farina and the Depalma Family. Lisa would like to thank the entire staff at Capital Living for their love, compassion, and empathy during this difficult time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish (Union St.) at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be Monday evening, June 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, Inc., 1503 Union Street, Schenectady.
