Obituary of Loraine P. Kilgallen

Loraine P. (Laurie Wilson) Kilgallen 68, of Niskayuna, passed away peacefully Sunday September 4, 2016 at home with her daughter by her side. Loraine was born in Rome, NY a daughter to Marguerite Hathaway Kilgallen and the late Francis Kilgallen. She graduated from Linton High School, SUNY Geneseo and St. Rose College, with a Masters degree. Loraine taught Elementary School at one time, she also worked for over 30 years for New York State in various positions, retiring from DMV as a Manager. She volunteered with the Red Cross as a Disaster Relief Coordinator after 911, an EMT with Niskayuna Fire District 2; served with Mission outreach to children in Mexico and was a member of the Old Helderbergh Chapter NSDAR for 21 years. (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) She was proud to be a member as is her mother. Survived by her mother, Marguerite Hathaway Kilgallen: her daughter, Valerie Nicole Kilgallen; grandchildren Devin and Griffin Kilgallen; her dear cousin Helena Miller (Edward Carley), several other cousins and many dear friends. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady, for those who wish to call. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 1 PM at Memory's Garden in Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations in Loraine's memory may be made to Community Hospice or to Breast Cancer Research.
