Niskayuna - Marjorie A. Parillo Schlansker, age 84, passed away at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Born in Schenectady, NY on March 25, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Philip Parillo and Louise DeFeo Parillo. A graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, Margie received her bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University and completed a study course in Medical Records from the Graduate School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She worked at Ellis and St. Clare’s Hospitals.
In 1973, Margie married the late Norman Schlansker and began their 35 years of married life in Schenectady. She was a homemaker and a communicant and choir member at St. Paul the Apostle Church. Margie enjoyed baking for family and friends and caring for the family dog, Max.
She is survived by her sister Anita Parillo Russo of Mariaville Lake; her sister-in-law, Ellen Schlansker (late Richard); her nieces and nephews, Ryan Russo of Malta, Randall Russo of Bozeman, MT, Richard (Laurie) Schlansker of Glenville, Karen (William) Schaefer of Niskayuna, Susan (Robert) Nuttall of Snellville, GA, Lisa (David) Kolosek and Richard (Angie) Schlansker all of Saratoga. She is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews here.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Home Instead that allowed Marge to remain in her home for several years and Ingersoll Place where Marge was welcomed and cherished. She enjoyed the warm and friendly environment offered by all of her friends and caregivers at Ingersoll.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marge’s family on Wednesday, September 6th from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Jones Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2733 Albany St. Schenectady, NY 12304. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.
