Obituary of Mark A. Snyder
Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Schenectady - Mark Snyder, 64, passed away peacefully after a long illness on August 21, 2023, at Capstone Rehabilitation Center. Mark was born on February 11, 1959, in Schenectady. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Agnes Snyder. Mark is survived by his brother, Roger (Ellen) Snyder of Colorado, his sisters, Linda Snyder of New York, Nancy Snyder of Florida, several nieces and lifelong friends Elliott Shanklin, Paul Mlodzianowski and Tony Musco.
Mark grew up in the Stockade area of Schenectady, graduated from Linton High School, and had lived most of his life in the area. He worked as a painter for Fresh Kote and while work is work, Mark enjoyed working with his good friends, Paul and Tony, until he suffered a stroke a few years ago. Everyone who knew Mark was aware of his love of horse racing, and at times in his life he was part of racing partnerships with friends. Spanish Serenade and Dunvegan were both winners at Belmont Racecourse. He was very knowledgeable of the sport and was a walking dictionary of horse racing/breeding facts. Mark traveled to Ireland, Scotland, England, Hong Kong, and Germany to enjoy the sport internationally as well. Milwaukee Bucks and Yankees were his favorite teams.
Mark’s quiet and calm nature, generous heart and sense of humor made him loved by many people. He was a gentle giant who will always remain in our hearts.
Services will be private.
