Obituary of Catherine J. Harrison

Schenectady- Catherine J. Harrison, 92, passed away February 17, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong area resident, she was born in Schenectady, NY to Theophilus and Catherine (Butler) Johnson Jr. Catherine graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1948. She attended Green Mountain College in Vermont and graduated from Mildred Elly Business School in 1950. She married Richard L. Henry in 1951 and worked as a secretary for GE in Baltimore, Moberly, MO and Schenectady before starting a family. Widowed in 1960, she later married William H. Harrison in 1963. Catherine was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Schenectady for many years, until mobility became an issue in her later years. She worked at a Blue Stamp Redemption Center in East Glenville, NY before joining CHP in Latham in 1977. She was their first “employee of the month.” “Cappy” was a medical receptionist for over 20 years, working briefly in medical records. Catherine was once a member of the Melodeers. She enjoyed summers in Hillsdale, NY, gamedays with her family and friends, the Saratoga Flat track and Racino. Lotto and scratch offs were another favorite. Catherine loved animals, especially ducks, dogs, cats, and horses. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard L. Henry, former husband William Harrison, son Michael D. Henry, brothers Edward L. Johnson, John B. Harrington and Dean Harrington. Survivors include daughter Dusty Ann (George) Ifflander, son Richard Henry, daughter Jane (Eric) Neithardt and daughter Tracy H. (Jeffrey) Pahl. Survivors include also, her grandchildren, Theresa Muse, Catharine Spence, Camilla Henry, Jason Pahl, Erin Pahl, grandson Kyle Pahl, Abby Neithardt, Hayley Neithardt and 6 great grandchildren. No public services will be held. Burial was at Parkview Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12302 or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie. To leave a condolence for the family, please visit www.jonesfh.net. The family would like to thank Dr. John Pezzulo and the staff of Community Hospice, Landmark, Eddy VNA and especially her Nursing Aide Lisa Taylor who always brought a smile to Mom’s face.
