It is hard to believe that a life force as strong as Walt has departed this Earth. Walter was truly a unique man. He was overly generous, always willing to help with any project/problem and ALWAYS has a solution. His sense of humor could be a little twisted at times. But that helped make him who he was and why we loved him so. It can be said with confidence that Walt made a major impact on every life he's touched. His insight, wisdom and total aversion to BS made him someone you could not help but respect and rely upon.
Walt and Maggie's home welcomed one and all. It was downright difficult to stop by and say hello and not find yourself sitting down to a huge farm fresh meal, no matter how much you protested. Of course, the other risk of stopping to visit was Walt would be in the middle of a project and you would find yourself on the hot end of piece of metal or maybe the greasy end of a piece of equipment. I learned early in our relationship that you never wore new clothes if you were planning on stopping by to see Walt and Maggie. But, when the work was done, the libations and food came out. I still remember Walt sending us out into the cornfield one day to pick corn while he got the water boiling. Said corn loses a good chunk of its flavor 10 minutes after you pick it. I never had reason to doubt the man.
Maggie, our hearts go out to you and the family. Anyone who knew Walt knows the loss you are feeling. But we know that Walt is not one to give up. So, I expect he's looking down and will continue to watch over all of you, while directing the maintenance crew in Heaven as their new boss. I suspect that you're going to start seeing a lot of angels with dirty hands.
Please accept our deepest sympathies. He will be missed by all of us.

I can’t believe Walt is no longer at the house when I go to visit my dear friend, Maggie. We have known him over 40 years. He and Maggie made working on the farm fun and invigorating. I’ll dream about his homemade wine, venison, pork, fresh veggies, and his pancakes.
I will miss our great conversations (especially after we set parameters.) Ha ha!
Walt deeply loved his family and all the daily friends and visitors they welcomed into the bustling house.
Travel well, Walt. Let all of your heartfelt love and hard working spirit carry you. We will miss you!
Love,
Columbine and Rich

I was saddened. to read of WALTS passing. I have always known Walt as a kind, thoughtful and generous man. When I was Executive Director of the Northeast Parent and Child Society Walt and his team worked on several major renovation and new construction projects for us. Walt was always suppurative of our work on behalf of troubled children and their families and always went above and beyond, a truly remarkable. man. I wish his family and many friends peace and fond memories. Lance R. Jackson E.D. Ret.
