Barbara, Ernie and Michael,
We live in Colorado now but read the Gazette on our Ipads. We are sad to read that you, and all of us, have lost Ernie. He was such a cheerful, friendly and helpful person. I am pretty sure that I even remember him helping with Bicycle Maintenance in 4-H! I certainly need his help with that!
We send our wishes and hope that you can remember the many ways that Ernie made life better for so many.

i worked with Ernie at Ellis Hospital for many years. Ernie was a bright light. He was well loved and he loved everyone. In 1997 my son, Derek, was an intern working in the Respiratory Therapy Department. Ernie really took him under his wing, so much so that when Derek was the lead in the high school musical, Oklahoma in Burnt Hills, that he came and brought his family. I will never forget that act of kindness. Ernie was an inspiration and God's light shined through him. Love and prayers to you all. Lois Mills

Ernie and I didn’t grow up or go to school together…we were fellow “gym rats” at Vent Fitness in Niskayuna where we met many years ago…we shared countless discussions about music and sports & I always looked forward to Ernie’s smiling face early in the morning…Ernie’s smile would light up the whole gym…he was one of the friendliest, kind & caring individuals I have ever had the good fortune of knowing…I will miss him tremendously & my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this very difficult time….may Ernie’s memory forever be a blessing

Barbara and kids,
I’m so bummed upon reading today’s Gazette about the untimely passing of Ernie. I have known Ernie for decades, from high school to the YMCA, to my years serving the City of Schenectady and of Ernie teaming with my younger brother Victor to form a formidable racquetball team. As we grew older I would always see Ernie walking through Central Park, always a smile on his face, always asking about my brother who moved out of State. In later years we would reconnect at the Music Haven Concert series held every Sunday night. Sadly, the last time I saw Ernie was at Music Haven when he told me about his cancer diagnosis yet he so enjoyed the Zydeco music and was bopping to the beat.
Ernie was a genuine person who cared so much for his family, work, community and mankind. Ernie never forgot where he came from, who he was and what he stood for. He was compassionate, caring, dedicated, determined, devoted and simply had a zest for living second to none.
When I called my brother in South Carolina and told him about Ernie’s condition he was genuinely distraught and started reminiscing about Ernie and the good old days. May Ernie’s legacy shine down on us proving courage, strength and hope. May God Bless Ernie and his family and may he now Rest In Peace. I shall always remember that smile and caring attitude and I will never forget an incredible man. Love you forever.

I was so sorry to hear the news of Ernie's passing I will always remember him with fondness, we went to McKinley Jr. High together, we played football, softball, basketball and we both were on the Track team, we re-connected a few years later at the YMCA where Ernie hit the speed bag and played handball, some years passed and once again we connected via social media and we shared many messages and there were always the promises of getting together which much to my chagrin never happened, which serves as a lesson to us all, if you care for someone go see them if possible and share memories and tell them how important they are to you because you never know. Ernie God Bless you and I'm sure you are at peace in Heaven.

Ernie and Barbara Walton were the kindest and most thoughtful next door neighbors, anyone could ask for. From snow blowing our joint driveways to mowing lawns when we were away, and even bringing in our garbage cans from the road weekly, Ernie always was very kind and most thoughtful. We never exchanged an unkind word, not even when I hit their dryer vent, or backed into his brother’s car!
It is sad to say goodbye to such a dear and wonderful man, who loved many things, but loved most of all his wife, Barbara,
and sons Ernie Jr. and Michael and their wives, and his amazing and precious grandchildren, whom he was very proud of and loved to visit and have them come and spend time with him.
Pamela and I and Debbie and Tim and Carrie certainly will miss our amazing, soft spoken and thoughtful neighbor, Ernie Walton. Our deepest condolences go out to Barbara and Ernie Jr. and Michael and the rest of his loving family, who certainly are bearing a deep sense of loss, and a lot of cherished memories from the life of this noble man.
Earl and Pamela Wallace.

I will very much miss Ernie. He is one of the kindest humans I have met. Always helping others with anything.. It has been a privilege growing up right next door and sharing a driveway.. even Just a few months ago when he wasnt feeling well he still mowed my parents lawn or brought up garbage cans. If he saw a task or a problem he would just fix it. He lived life to the fullest.
Thank you for all the memories and sharing a birthday week I will miss your smile and happy birthdays and so much more..
