Obituary of Gerry S. Pierce

Schenectady Gerry S. Pierce, 93, passed away Friday April 8, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. He was born in Brockton, MA on June 1, 1928, son of the late Edwin Raymond and Ruth Alice Spooner Pierce. Following his youthful years in Osterville, MA, he graduated from Barnstable High School in Hyannis, MA in June 1946. He immediately joined the US Navy, serving from June 1946 to June 1949. Gerry then attended Becker Jr. College in Worcester, MA and graduated in 1951 with an Associate Degree in Accounting and Business Administration. General Electric recruited him for the GE Business Training Course immediately following college graduation. He retired from GE in April 1989 when he was Manager of Executive Compensation Administration. Throughout his life he volunteered with many organizations. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and was involved and served at the many levels of church activities. He enjoyed woodworking, clock building and repairing, and traveling on small ships to many locations. He was a man of character. He performed more acts of kindness and charity than anyone of us will ever know about. Surviving is his wife, Eleanor, and three daughters, Nancy Mohammadi of Rotterdam, Karen (John) Piccioni of Syracuse, and Janet (Michael) Bresnahan of Worcester, MA and brother David of Hyannis, MA. He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Meredith Pierce, Ruth Wolfgram, Eleanor Cunningham, Carol Nobre, and a daughter, Diane Pease. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30am Tuesday, April 12 at Faith United Methodist Church, 811 N. Brandywine Ave, Schenectady. Masks are recommended. A calling hour will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am prior to the service. Burial will be at Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 811 North Brandywine Avenue, Schenectady 12308, Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County, 115 North Broadway, Schenectady 12305 or FINCA International, 1201 15th Street NW, 8th Floor, Washington, DC 20005.
