Jane Morrison Osgood, 93, of Coburg Village, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
Born in Boston, MA in 1928, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Morrison and Dr. Herman A. Osgood.
She was a graduate of Newton High School in 1945, and received her BA from Western College for Women in Oxford, OH in 1949. She served as secretary to the Director of the Boston Center for Adult Education, after which she was assistant research librarian at the Curtis Publishing Company’s Boston office.
Following her marriage at Trinity Church, Boston in 1953 to R. Bruce Tatge, she and her husband moved to Schenectady in 1954 and to Glenville in 1956, where they raised their three children, Anne Green (husband Peter), David (wife Janette) and Robert (wife Rachel). When the children were older, she returned to library work at Schenectady County Community College and Shenendehowa Free Library in Clifton Park.
Jane’s volunteer activities included work as a docent at the Schenectady Museum, chaplain aide at Ellis Hospital (1980-1998), co-chairman of the January Ecumenical Mission Series (JEMS), and chairman of the Capital District Interchurch Library group. She served as Eucharistic lay reader at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Schenectady for 14 years, was a member of the choir, and head of the church library. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and learning with Elderhostel, including more than a dozen trips as well as domestic travel.
Besides her parents, she is pre-deceased by her brother Arthur (Tony), in 1985 and sister-in-law Bobbie Jean Osgood.
She also leaves a brother John C. Osgood of S. Hadley, MA; a sister-in-law Mary Alice Osgood of S. Hadley, MA; seven grandchildren: Jeremy, Lauren, Jaclyn, Will, Lindsey, Ali, and Philip; two great-grandchildren Cameron and James; two nieces and two nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11am Saturday, January 29 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, The Plaza, Schenectady, NY. Burial will be at sea at a later date. There are no calling hours.
