Obituary of Dora Elizabeth Mount

Please share a memory of Dora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Schenectady Beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor, Dora Elizabeth "Betty" Mount, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Betty is survived by her brother, Joseph Mount of Clifton Park, New York and Sea Girt, New Jersey and her nieces Kristin Herrera of Sea Girt, NJ and Susan Spencer of Rancho Palos Verdes, California. She is predeceased by her father, Grant Elizer Mount, her mother, Marguerite Mount Keller and her step father, Skip Keller who her mother married a few years after her father died when Betty was in high school. Betty loved her lifelong career at the General Electric Company in Schenectady where she worked after graduating High School. Betty worked as an Executive Assistant to Dr. Henry Hurwitz who pioneered the theory and design of nuclear power and helped engineer the reactor for the Seawolf nuclear submarine. Betty had a passion for antiques and loved spending time with friends and family. She collected many things including rare coins, antiques and had an impressive collection of stuffed frogs. In recent years at the Glendale Nursing Home where she resided, she often referred to herself or other staff members as "Ribbit" in the spirit of what a frog would say. Kermit the Frog was the most famous frog in her collection and she loved his songs and quotes. Betty had a wonderful wit, spirit and sense of humor. Her family is at peace knowing that she has found her rainbow connection with all of the lovers and dreamers in heaven. A funeral service is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Jones Funeral Home in 1503 Union St, Schenectady, NY. Friends may call from 9:00am to 10:00am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. To leave a condolence for the family, please visit www.jonesfh.net.
