Obituary of Ansell Alberga

Schenectady- Ansell Alberga Jr., 81, of Oakwood Ave. died suddenly Monday evening August 9, 2021 at his residence. Born in Catskill, Ansell was the son of the late Ansell and Polly Keeney Alberga Sr. and husband of Ragnhild Laila Olsen Alberga. Ansell grew up in Round Top and was a 1957 graduate of the Cairo High School. He was a graduate of HVCC and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree from Union College.
Ansell served in the Army from 1962 until 1965. He had an over 40-year career at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna. When he retired in 2006, he had held the position of Mechanical Engineer. Ansell had resided in Schenectady since 1960.
Ansell was involved with Scouting for over 40 years and was an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 357 in Schenectady. When he was younger, he enjoyed hunting and western square dancing. He was a science fiction buff and enjoyed reading and movies of that subject along with enjoying the outdoors.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his sons Kristofer Alberga of Vermontville, NY and Karl Alberga of Schenectady, his daughter Karin Alberga of Watervliet, a brother Cyril (Sandra) Alberga of Putnam Valley, NY, his sisters Polly Ann (James) Carnright of Palm Bay, Fla., Ariel (Donald) Alberga-Martin of Lansing, NY, Diane of Catonsville, MD and Elaina (Mark Baranello) of Dryden, NY and his grandchildren Patrick, Jacob, Abigail and Zoe Alberga.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 1-3 pm on Sunday, August 15 at the Jones Funeral Home 1503 Union St., Schenectady, NY followed by a service at 3pm.
An Interment service will be held 10 am Monday August 16 at the Hillside Cemetery, Firetower Road, West Stephentown.
The family suggest donations in memory of Ansell Alberga Jr. may be made to the Boy Scout Troop 357 c/o Rotterdam Elks #2157, 1152 Curry Road, Schenectady, NY 12306.
