Rudy was a friend from the museum days as well as the weather net. It was my pleasure to help him as an exhibits tech to try and explain physics to the children of the region via hands on learning. He once asked me to obtain the finest powder I could so to show electric discharge to kids. I ended up opening up a toner cartridge (despite good warning, and a profound mess,) and it was perfect. He told me once he didn't worry so much about death, that conservation of energy meant that while matter transforms all the time energy is forever, and our individual energy would never be lost from the universe.

While helping his neighbor, Emily, I had the opportunity to meet and chat with him a few times. A very interesting man he was, and am glad he shared his time with me. Peace to his family. Bob Baldwin

Rudy was a long and good friend of my Dad Walter Schick. They both lived to101 !
They were both devoted ham radio operators. Many of the events mentioned in the obit., they did together. Rudy was at Dad's 100 and 101 birthday parties. He was a fine and admirable man.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was an inspiring man. The next-to-last time I saw him was at a Habitat site. He arrived the same time as I did, with his tool belt on, ready to work. He was over ninety at the time. The project leader told him that they had all the workers they needed that day (I was there as part of a large group from KAPL). Rudy just said, "OK. I'll come back Wednesday."

Hi, I met Rudy five years ago when I was helping a local family put its house on the National Register of Historic Places. He had worked with the original owner of that house at the Research Lab and was very helpful in describing the period when he and a lot of other GE people were building homes in Niskayuna.
He was a great deal of fun to talk to and very helpful. I thought you might like his memory of that time:
"We’re not the greatest generation but what happened was, we were confined during the war to a specific activity, namely make the war win. And we didn’t do all the other things that young people would do, kind of like a wound-up spring. When the war ended, we let go. And we did everything, all the young stuff. Nothing was impossible. If you thought about something, you figured out a way to do it, no matter what. And we all had similar interests, so we all had a lot of fun together."
I think he never stopped having fun. He lived a very good life.
