My condolences to the Ipsen family. I didn't know Joan even though I met her several times with her husband, Peter. I worked for him in the early '70s and we would meet at various arts productions. Peter was a great and humble man and always a pleasure to be with. May God bless the family.

Joan Ipsen was indeed one of a kind. If I had to describe her in a single word, "elegant" would come to mind. I have had the privilege to know Mrs. Ipsen all my life. I can't think of a time that she was not smiling. She was as pleasant a person as the day is long. She certainly had no enemies and when you spoke with her, you got the feeling she was really listening to you.
My fondest memories of her revolve around tennis, swimming and yoga. Well into her eighties when my wife, Susanne, would teach a Yoga class on Field Day morning, Joan would be there, attempting every pose. I can still see her making the daily swim from her dock, around the big float and back to her dock on a daily basis, again well into her eighties. My tennis memories are not nearly as fond as I always found myself on the other side of the net, while she put every single shot within about a foot of the baseline until I made an error getting it back. Joan Ipsen was a very classy lady and she will be missed greatly up at Jenny Lake. My condolences to all the Ipsen clan.

Dear Carol, John, Jim, Dan and the entire Ipsen family,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Joan. I have many memories of her and Peter - two o’clock tennis and perfect brush piles. She always told me when the cardinal flowers in Sandy Cove were in bloom. I picture them swimming together each afternoon with their perfect form and synchronized with each other.
May your many memories bring you comfort,
Meg Potter Gaines

Butch and I would like to extend warm hugs and thoughtful prayers to all of Joan's kind and caring family.
May you feel the fragrance of the most beautiful flower and the uplift of the most graceful bird, that Joan had experienced, bring you peace and hope.
