Obituary of Sierra Anne Collson
Please share a memory of Sierra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sierra Anne Collson, 34, of Niskayuna, NY, passed away quietly at home on January 28, 2021. She was the daughter of Dave (Anne) Collson and Maryanne Lawrence Collson, born in Hornell, NY on June 28, 1986.
Sierra leaves behind her two older brothers, Brett (Amy) Collson and Ryan Collson (Juliette Spink), and her stepbrothers, Travis ( Kelly Burch-Sanders) Waters, and Derrick (Emily) Waters.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William and Janice Collson, and her maternal grandparents, George and Doris Lawrence.
Sierra starred in soccer and track at both Alfred-Almond Central School and Canisteo-Greenwood School. She attended SUNY Cobleskill and finished her bachelor's degree from Empire State College. She was employed at Korn Ferry as a recruiting coordinator.
Sierra always lived life to the fullest. She was devoted to her Miami Dolphins, even though nobody else in the room cheered for them. Her friends were extremely important in her life. She was warmly embraced by Colleen Dunleavy's entire family, and especially enjoyed the time spent with Colleen's daughters, Nicky and Sierra. She spoke often of her friends Dean Lansley, Meg Frisoni, Derrek Morlang and Meg Condon.
Music was Sierra's passion. She was an excellent singer. Her favorite band was Paramore and she attended their concerts often. She also attended the Firefly Music Festival with friends in Delaware annually, along with any other music festival she could get to.
Recently, Sierra also became very active in the social gaming community.
Sierra's laughter and humor will be greatly missed at our family celebrations, but her spirit and energy will surround us. She was a force of nature and endured so much for such a young person. She leaves a space in our hearts and homes that will be filled with her memory.
The spirit of her as a young track star is in our minds as we realize that, once again, as in any race, she has sprinted ahead of all of us. She will be always loved, never forgotten. She rests in peace.
There is no service scheduled at this time. The family will hold a private gathering. Please remember our girl with laughter and love.
