We are heartbroken.
Peter and Kay welcomed us warmly when we moved in across the street in 1988. That winter Pete invited our kids to sled down his front lawn hill any time they wanted and even joined them on a couple of occasions, telling us subsequently that winter sledding was one of his fondest memories as a child.
The same invitation was made to our grandchildren when they started coming along and they called him “Grandpa Pete,” much to his delight. And it was easy for him to talk about his own grandchildren (and great grandchildren!) of whom he was very proud. Yet he certainly wasn’t old in mind or spirit, as he scrolled through his phone, making sure we’d seen the latest funny internet meme. He was also healthy and active with his daily walks, and careful about the Covid virus, which is why its taking him will always upset us. Even so, he had a long and good life and the world is a better place for his having been in it, as one of the kindest and nicest men we’ve ever known. We do and will miss him so.
Sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. In my years of knowing him, Peter was always happy and cheerful. I always looked forward to learning about his grandson and travels around the world. I also enjoyed our conversations about his yearly trips to Disney World and had even hoped to meet him there one day. Please rest in peace and thank you for the wonderful memories.

Our deepest condolences for his passing. He helped grow the love of running for our son while attending pre-school w/ his grandson. He would call him “flash” He was always eager to challenge him for a race & end it with a smile. He was a great man that always shared encouragement & his uplifting spirit with each encounter. He will be missed but surely not forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear of Peter's passing. I was one of the Hospice Volunteer Coordinators. He was always happy to take on a new patient to support. When the paperwork transitioned to an electronic format, I remember him saying his grandson would help him learn how to do it. And he sure did! At our meetings he always had a smile, was supportive of his peers, had a great sense of humor and a great storyteller. He will be missed by many.
My deepest condolences,
Caryn Anatriello

Dan & Family,
I was a Captain in Security Police at KAPL and spent the last month at the Sunnyview Gym speaking with your dad and talking about his career, family and how proud he was of you. In the last couple weeks I didn't see him and didn't realize his passing. He was a new friend and I will miss our conversations while we exercised together.
As my college teacher and mentor Ray Wemple stated previously,
"May God Bless all of you this very difficult and sad time in your lives".

It was so sad to learn that Peter had passed. I had the good fortune of working with him in the North Colonie Central School
District. I found Peter to posses the highest levels in education and his work ethics and standards were of the highest caliber. He was definitely an individual with much charisma, knowledge and class. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him May he now rest in peace …

I’m so sorry to hear of Dr. McManus’ passing. He was my advisor in graduate school at Sage and my professor. He was such a good man and a fair man. He always taught us to believe in ourselves and how important it was to focus on the person and to know their name. Dr. McManus gave me the opportunity to prove myself and because of him and my efforts to get good grades he recommended me to be admitted to the Masters program. He was a great man and I will forever remember him. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

I am very saddened to hear of Dr. McManus’s passing. He was my professor and advisor at Sage Graduate School in the Guidance and Counseling program. He taught me how to reflect, listen, connect feelings and so much more. What an integral part he played in shaping my career as a School Counselor. I will be forever grateful for him. Thinking of you all during this difficult time. I will continue to use his teachings until I retire from Cairo-Durham Middle School. Thank you for being a part of my life Dr. McManus. Rest In Peace. Dear Dan and Family,
I was truly very sorry to learn from Stan Fiminski that your Dad had passed away. Also, I never had a chance to say thank you for your Police Service and your support of MRD.
If there is anything that I might be able to do for you and your family at this time, please call on me.
May God Bless all of you at this very difficult and sad time in your lives.

I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. McManus. I moved to the capital district from Ohio in June of 1989 after finishing my 6th year of teaching in May. I already had my application in at North Colonie, and I called the district to enquire about being able to substitute at the elementary schools for the last month of the school year. By sheer chance, Dr. McManus answered the phone. We had a great conversation, and I am so fortunate that this led to my hiring and 30 year career in North Colonie. Not only was Dr. McManus a great educator, but he was a kind, caring, and fine man who made me feel very welcome at North Colonie. I offer my most heartfelt condolences to his family.

I first learned about the NCCCSD from Peter. Even in retirement he was still a force in the school counselor community. His description of how to best serve students as educators drew me to his district. Once there Peter continued to be my mentor and inspiration to be a Principal at Shaker High School. I learned so much from him. I will miss our conversations about education and the Mets
My deepest condolences to his family.

Pete was a wonderful role model for all of us in the Pupil Services Department at North Colonie. Not only a role model, but a mentor for many, too. I was able to work closely with him, especially when I did my administrative internship under his guidance. Pete lived life to the fullest, touching many lives. Now, he is with his beloved Kay and son Ed. Well done, good and faithful servant!
May he rest in peace,

He always treated me and other faculty with respect, kindness and good humor. His legacy of high expectations for everyone in the district was universally communicated and continues today.
