I don't know any of these people but I WISH I DID!!!!!!!! William Schilling sounds like the most interesting guy ever!!!!! From the chipmunks to the GTO to feeding the bear to his nickname "the brain".and his travels and his career and his adventures and his wives--I wish I could have known them also!!!! His sons sound like the acorn did not fall far from the tree but maybe rolled a little to the side. It's hard to believe that one of them (John--the smart one) really is a rocket scientist but somehow I would put money on the fact that he is!!! And the other one (Brian--- who says he is even smarter) probably is the smarter of the two--- because he managed to successfully avoid work entirely and must have become a writer and probably either has or will write a novel that I will be on the lookout for. This is the story of a wonderful man with a family and group of friends who totally enjoyed him, respected him and looked up to him. He is a man who will be missed. I really wish I had known him. That is how this eulogy made me feel.

Joy, I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I knew Bill from work. We interacted a little and when we did he was always very helpful and nice to work with. Whoever wrote his Obit did a great job describing the wonderful person he was.

Congrats to whoever wrote that obituary! I think the best I ever read! Bill had a heck of a lotta trust in me. On January 8th, 1983 he handed over his son John to me as my very first student as a brand new Certified Flight Instructor. On April 27th John soloed and I was more nervous than he was! My old logbook records John's whole course of instruction and his attaining his Private Pilot's license. Along the way I flew with Bill many a time for annual flight checks and such. Great guys that I was proud to share the cockpit with!
Bill and I, and others like Stan Schlusberg were avid flyers in those days and members of Condair Flyers. We were all about the same age and flying was in our blood. I am 83 now and am fortunate to still be an active pilot and instructor. I feel a little guilty for having outlived so many friends....................
Fly high, Bill ...............

Nancy and I offer our sincere condolences to Bill’s family. May God be with you and provide you with strength and love in your loss.
And so for Bill …..
Nancy and I will sincerely miss having lunch with you and your lovely, gracious wife at our GE Elfun and KAPL luncheons. You always provided intelligent, thoughtful, and entertaining discussions – with many stories of your travels and your day-to-day adventures…… and our common ailments as we aged. We shared many common interests in retirement – ranging from the GE/KAPL lunches, the concerts at Collins Park, live theater at Proctors, and country living.
Today, Bill, we learned about your “chipmunks.”As you know, we also live in the country – and we also have a chipmunk family, numbering about nine at last count – who frequently share lunch, usually corn kernels, with us. So, Bill, as we care for our chipmunks, we will always be reminded of you and your outstanding friendship over the years.
With pleasant memories of you,
Jack and Nancy Kozlowich

My deepest condolences to all of Bill's family and friends. I was lucky to work with Bill for a number of years during my 40 years at the lab. My wife and I belonged to a duplicate bridge group that included Bill and both wives! Bill was every bit the person so aptly as humorously rekindled in his obituary. Don't know if it's appropriate but I can honestly say I enjoyed reading it, not, of course Bill's untimely death but the memory jogs just brought him back for a short time. I recall going out into the meadow next to Bill's home, before settling down for some very serious bridge, where he introduced us to several of the resident cows and then showed us how to deftly transit the "mine" field to get back to the table. I remember one spectacular Christmas tree that had to have been borrowed from the State Capitol. I'm sure some members of the old computer group will recall one very funny birthday gift that Bill was a part of...still brings a chuckle.

So sad to learn of Bill's passing. He was the best; smart, friendly and always with a smile.
I worked with Bill during the years our kids were in Scouting. He was the "outings" chairman and would plan monthly weekend camping trips for our scout troop. I would help out by finding volunteer drivers and attending the trips. He had a vast knowledge and love of the Adirondacks resulting in many memorable weekend overnights.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him; honest, sincere and always there when called upon to help.
