My Uncle Mark was the most caring, humble and real person. Our conversations sitting in the kitchen until 2am were some of my favorite times. Just talking about anything and laughing together. He had the best laugh too! The kind that made you laugh even more. He was a one-of-a-kind guy. So patient and skilled. His craftsmanship was like no other. When he set his mind to a project, it woukd turn out perfect. Other great memories are when we had the same haircut and drove the same kind of van. All by accident! It was something we both got a kick out of. I will always wish that there were more times spent together. He was one of the good ones and I’m proud to have him as my uncle. A true character that lived the way he wanted and accomplished what he set out to do. An example of what anyone should want to be. Love you Uncle Mark!

Jonie,
I never met Mark, however if knowing you is any indication of what a kind person he was, then I most certainly know he was a good, kind man. I am so sorry for your loss... many prayers for you and your family. Cynthia Kelly

I have had the pleasure of working with Mark (a.k.a. Mr. Mark) at S.C.A.P. Head Start since he started. He was a hard working, dedicated, and caring man. His energy seemed endless as he worked every minute of everyday with a zest for life. He was greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The children adored him. He also was a friend of neighbors of ours. He could not wait to share he had heard from Peg about a bear on my front hill. His smile and kindness will be lost, but our fond memories are ours to keep. Rest well, Mark. May you find a moment or two to enjoy your rewards in heaven.

Such a big part of my child hood. The “Uncles” from Schoolcraft street. Thank you for reinforcing my love of fishing. Peace and love.

I remember being so shy my first few months at SCAP and Mark would always go out of his way to smile and ask me how I was doing. After many snowfalls he would sheepishly come to my office to ask me to move my car from its designated space in the parking lot so he could make sure our building was accessible to the community, and we had a running joke that I was always in his way! I looked forward to our interactions and appreciated his welcoming smile and personable greeting. My condolences to the family. He will be missed.

I am so very sad to hear of this news. Mark was an absolute wonderful person to work with. I always enjoyed our conversations and looked forward to talking with him every Monday about whether I skied or hiked over the weekend. He had genuine interest in hearing about my hobbies, and it was something to look forward to at the beginning of the work week. There's not much more to say other than he was just a wonderful guy. My sincerest condolences.

Mr. Mark was one of my favorite fellow SCAPers. He worked so hard to keep Sojourn House up and running. Mr. Mark was a delight to work with. We would chase him down to drag him into to help us with small tasks, he teased us always saying he tried to sneak away before Ms. Gem could catch him. I always tried to complete the task before his arrival, and he use to tell me how great it was to have a handy supervisor on sight to assist him with the small things. I will miss him ! He truly brought happiness to all that knew him and he has forever left an impression on my heart that I will have for the rest of my days.

You are in our prayers. Loosing one who is deeply loved is challenging enough but exponentially in these trying times.

The memory that makes me smile the most is when he and my sisters Jane and Jonie came to surprise me for my 60th birthday. I didn't know Mark was here, hiding on the back porch. After Jonie asked if there were any deer out back I went to look and there was Mark, sitting on the porch to surprise me. He got me good. Mark was generous, helpful and always giving me his ideas about the latest healthy food craze. I loved Mark like my brother and glad he married my sister. Marky, you were just an overall good guy. I'll miss giving you my big hugs. Love you.
