Joseph William Szymanski, of Castleton, beloved son of Michelle Maneri, of Glenville, and Peter A. Szymanski, of Syracuse, died on June 20, 2020 at Albany Medical Center with his loving parents at his side. Joseph was born September 24, 1998 in Syracuse, NY. He lived in Syracuse for the first eight years of his life, moving to the Capital District area in 2006. He graduated from Burnt Hills/Ballston Lake High School in 2016 and in 2018 he received an Associates Degree in Welding form Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY. At the time of his death he was working for Equal Vision Records. He previously worked with Kirk Lyons for Lyons Den Productions as a lighting and sound technician and as a stagehand. He was also previously employed by Syracuse Scenery & Stage Lighting. Joe loved music. He was part of a band with friends, and loved going to the Lost Lands Festival in Ohio every year. His favorite pastime was fishing, especially with his dad and his Papa, going to the beach with his cousins, hiking and hanging out with his friends, as well as, traveling whenever he could.
Joe was an organ donor and gave the Gift of Life to many in whom he will continue to live on. “A lot of people were going to have a great day that day!”
Beside his parents, Joseph is survived by his devoted and loving grandparents, Charles and Sharon Maneri, his loving uncles, John and Paul Szymanski and Matthew (Stacy) Maneri, his loving cousins, Matthew and Anna Maneri, close family friends, Mary Piraino and her son, Matteo, his biological grandfather, Michael Lucier Sr.,uncle, Michael Lucier Jr. and aunt, Melanie Harpp,his best friend, Jake Roberts, who was more like a brother, many great-aunts, uncles and cousins, and friends he treated like family.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Richard and Jeanette Szymanski, his beloved Babcia and Dziadzi
A private service was held for the family. A big Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held when the Corona Virus allows.
Michelle and Peter wish to express their gratitude to the ICU staff at Albany Medical Center for their kindness and compassionate care of Joe since our access to him was severely limited due to COVID regulations.
