Obituary of Lawrence R. Matura

Larry Matura, 72 years old died Sunday, April 30, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady he is the son of the late Louis and Alice Matura. He graduated from Scotia H.S. and retired from KAPL. Larry was an avid volunteer for numerous community organizations. He was an accomplished High School Athlete in several sports, having broken school records in track and field. He played with the Schenectady YMCA Men's Volleyball Team and proud to have won team gold medals at both the Empire State Games and at the National Level. He is survived by his wife Yolanda, daughters Erica Matura, Amy Sullivan (Mike), and son Chris Matura (Kim). Grandchildren Emily, Caroline, Julia, Jon and Sarah, his sister Barbara Smith (Stuart) and predeceased by brother Lou. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 5-7pm at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street, Schenectady, NY. Words of remembrance at 6pm.
