Obituary of Mary M. Lawrence

Schenectady - Mary M. Lawrence, 86, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Mount Loretto, Amsterdam, NY. She was born Mary Margaret Unseld on June 2, 1923 in Schenectady, daughter of Thomas and Mary Unseld. Mary graduated from St. Joseph's Academy and Mildred Elley School of Business. She worked for Sealtest in Schenectady, Crafts Foods in New York City, and retired as Director of Personnel and Office Administration from the Facilities Development Corporation of New York State in Albany, NY. After retirement, Mary was actively involved as a volunteer at St. Clare's and Proctors in Schenectady. Mary also volunteered as office help at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Schenectady. Mary loved to travel, play golf, and play cards and was an active member of the Edison Club. Mary is survived by her brother, Thomas, and her sister-in-law, Frances Unseld. She will be dearly missed by her loving nieces, Susan Michalko, Barbara Taylor, Carolyn Wasilchuk, and Mary Sedota. She is also survived by several cousins. Special thanks to Clare Bridge in Niskayuna and Mount Loretto in Amsterdam and their staff for their wonderful care of Mary. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 9 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Schenectady. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 AM to 6 AM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St.), Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
